Bully Fire burning 12,661 acres, 61 percent contained

The Bully Fire has burned 12,661 acres and is 61 percent contained. Firefighters continue to make good progress on the fire lines. Cal Fire is now reporting that full containment is expected Wednesday July 23, they had previously hoped to have full containment by Friday.

All evacuation orders have been lifted.

The Red Cross evacuation center at Ono Elementary School, 6249 Placer Street in Igo has been closed, but any residents who need assistance with animals can still contact Shasta County Animal Control at 530-245-6540.

There are no road closures in effect at this time.

One person has died, eight homes and 12 other structures have been destroyed so far. 13 firefighters have suffered minor injuries. 68 structures remain threatened.

A 27-year-old Sacramento man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the blaze. Authorities say he was delivering material to a marijuana site when the exhaust from his truck ignited dry grass.
