Bully Fire burning 10,700 acres, 47 percent contained

The Bully Fire has now burned 10,700 acres and is 47 percent contained. Cal Fire is now reporting that full containment is expected Wednesday July 23, they had previously hoped to have full containment by Friday.

Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for Sunny Hill Road, but an evacuation advisory remains in effect for the area. All other evacuation orders and advisories have been lifted.

The Red Cross evacuation center at Ono Elementary School, 6249 Placer Street in Igo has been closed, but any residents who need assistance with animals can still contact Shasta County Animal Control at 530-245-6540.

Other than Bully Choop Road, which remains closed to all traffic except emergency personnel, all road closures have been lifted.

The fire has destroyed eight homes and ten other structures. 13 firefighters have suffered minor injuries. 68 structures remain threatened.

A 27-year-old Sacramento man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the blaze. Authorities say he was delivering material to a marijuana site when the exhaust from his truck ignited dry grass.
