Habitat for Humanity received lots of help on the construction of a few new homes. Various groups showed up with smiling faces and lots of energy. Among the groups is a local internet retailer, Build.com.
Brandon Thomas, Build.com Brand Manager says, "We are dedicated to our customers. We care about the people we serve."
Build.com began in 2000, employs 250 people and serves customers nationwide. Some of those employees were armed with shovels to help build these three homes in south Chico on 'D' street. The company also donated $2,500 worth of products for the houses. "This is our opportunity to really put the products that we give our customers to good use and our community," Thomas says.
Habitat for Humanity coordinator, Jayne Ragland agrees. The more hands on a project the better. "We are delighted to have build.com out here with us today. It is always helpful to have groups from our community to come out and join us on the build."
Butte County Habitat for Humanity has built 14 homes. On average they have around 60 volunteers every Saturday. Which makes the work a little easier and definitely more fun. Jayne says, "The more volunteers we have, the faster we can get the houses built, the more comradery we have on the sight makes it a lot of fun. "
Without help from groups like Build.com and the various other volunteers on site, local Chico families would not get the opportunity to call one of these houses, home.
