Brief standoff ends with arrest in Redding

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly threatened a woman and two children inside a Redding home.

According to the Redding Police Department, a woman called police and said her live-in boyfriend was acting suicidal and threatening her, and her children with a gun.

When officers arrived at the Mesa Street home, the woman ran with the children outside to safety. The man barricaded himself inside and a brief standoff ensued. The man surrendered 10 minutes later. No injuries were reported.

Placer Street was closed at Airpark Drive and Pleasant Street during the standoff, but all roads were reopened by 3:15 p.m.
