Mount Shasta Police are looking for a pair of brazen robbers who tried to rob a hotel Sunday morning in Mount Shasta.

Officers responded to an emergency call around 1 a.m. Sunday morning at the Best Western Tree House Hotel on Morgan Way. The clerk on duty at the time, David Cutler, told police he had just been robbed by two males.

According to Cutler, the two men entered the hotel through the front door and demanded cash. Cutler told the would-be robbers he had no cash on hand and locked himself in an adjacent back office.

The suspects jumped over the counter and discovered a safe. While the burglars were distracted with the safe, Cutler escaped to contact police. As he fled, one of the suspects chased him down and hit him in the face with his gun twice.

Video from the motel shows two suspects, both described as around 5-feet-11-inches tall. One wearing all black, and his face covered by what appeared to be a bandanna. The second suspect was wearing a dark gray jacket.

Mount Shasta Police Department with the help of Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies and California Highway Patrol searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
