It's a growing problem on the Chico High School campus. Bicycles are being stolen, not only in broad daylight, but as students are being let out of class. Principal Jim Hanlon says this could lead to a confrontation should a student arrive to find someone stealing his or her bike. Hanlon says it's a crime that's escalated in the last month. He says a young-looking thief will arrive on campus just as the gates open, as school lets out. These thieves blend in, and tend to go unnoticed. The school has asked campus supervisors to monitor the area, and be on the lookout for non-students on campus. Hanlon is advising students to use U-Locks, which are harder to cut than chains. The school is also planning to add more surveillance cameras.
