Boreal Mountain, in Truckee, has become the first ski resort in California to open for the 2014-2015 season Friday.

Boreal Mountain is known for its early-season operations and conditions. During Halloween weekend the resort operations staff fired up the snow guns and then received some help from Mother Nature with over 10 inches of snow fall.

Starting Friday morning the resort is offering one run with six terrain park features accessed by the Castle Peak Quad chairlift.

Conditions permitting, Boreal will continue to expand terrain coverage through the winter months.
