Students at Vista Middle School in Red Bluff were evacuated due to a bomb threat Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The evacuation order was made around 1:30 p.m. when a 12-year-old boy told a staff member there was a bomb on campus.

Red Bluff police evacuated the school and sent students home on either their normal bus routes, or had parents pick them up at a safe location nearby.

The threat was deemed false around 3:30 p.m. and faculty members have been allowed back into the building. School is scheduled as planned Friday.

The 12-year-old was arrested and booked into Red Bluff Juvenile Hall on a misdemeanor charge of making a false bomb threat.
