Pentz Road was closed in Paradise between Feather River Hospital and Vineyard Drive for several hours Sunday afternoon, following an incident involving the Butte County Bomb Squad. According to authorities on scene, someone spotted the suspicious device around 1:30pm, and the area was blocked off. The Bomb Squad was called in, and the robot detonated the device twice. In between detonations, the robot was rolling over an incline and tipped over. Pentz Road was reopened once the device was determined to be safe.

The road was reopened around 4:15pm Sunday. No explosives were found in the device, according to investigators.
