The man accused of starting the Boles Fire appeared in court for the first time today, where he plead not guilty to all charges.

24-year-old Ronald Marshall was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges of Arson of an Inhabited Structure or Property, Arson of a Structure or Forest, and Arson of Property of Another. Marshall pleaded not guilty to all and his bail was raised to $2.5 million.

The Boles Fire destroyed 143 homes and nine other buildings in Weed. Weed police arrested Marshall Saturday morning, saying he had been a person of interest throughout the investigation.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 23 at 8:30 a.m.
