Butte County Sheriff's Officials confirmed Saturday morning that they have found the body of missing Paradise woman, Stephanie Chalmers.

Chalmers, 50, is developmentally disabled and non-verbal.

She had been missing since 7:40 a.m. Thursday, when she wandered off from the area of 40 Oak Lane and Bille Road in Paradise. Chalmers lived in a group home with two other residents, which is provided 24 hour care by California Vocation.

Saturday's search ended at the west rim of the canyon. Although teams wanted to expand the search, the rim of the canyon Stephanie was found in was around 300 feet away.

A scent sniffing K-9 from the California Rescue Dog Association found her. The volunteer search dog team was brought in as part of the mutual aid that was called for.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death as there were no visible signs of trauma to her body.

Paradise will be holding a candlelight vigil tonight at 8:30 at Bille Park. The vigil is open to the public.
