NORDEN, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say rescue teams have found the body of a ski instructor who went missing in January at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue team and El Dorado County Search and Rescue dog teams were training at Sugar Bowl when they located Carson May's body Monday.

The office says May's body was found under 5 feet of snow near where his cell phone last "pinged."

The resort says the body was found about a quarter mile out of bounds in an avalanche-prone area.

The 23-year-old was last seen January 15 while skiing off duty at Sugar Bowl near Norden.

A four-day, intensive search by dozens of volunteers and authorities was suspended due to harsh weather.
