Here is the statement released by campus officials:
“HSU Mourns Loss of Arthur Arzola
Humboldt State University is saddened to share that Arthur Arzola, a staff member in the Admissions Office, was among those who died in yesterday’s bus accident. He had been accompanying the students on their trip.
Arzola is remembered by colleagues at Humboldt State for his passionate commitment to helping low-income and first-generation students get into college. He dedicated his career to that work. He had been working as HSU’s Admissions representative in the Los Angeles area for the last year.
The campus community extends its deepest condolences to Arthur’s family and friends. Words cannot express our sadness, and we are here to support them in any way possible.
At the California Highway Patrol press conference, Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones stated the majority of the dead bodies found in front of the bus, laying in front of bus.
Two other bodies were in the mid-portion of the bus, Jones said.”
