"We will be investigating this as a suspicious death," explained CHP Sgt. Steve Dubravetz.
A gruesome discovery for a kayaker Tuesday morning just after ten in Oroville. The body of a male adult was found on the Feather River, about 400 yards from Bed Rock Park. Authorites from the Oroville Police Department, Butte County Sheriff's Office and CHP responded, but little information is known about the suspicious death. A preliminary investigation showed no obvious signs of trauma, except for a few scratches. "He was found without any clothes on, he did have scrapes on his legs, which were consistent with black berry bushes. Until the autopsy is done, we will not know whether or not there was foul play involved," Dubravetz stated.
The victim is described as a white male adult. "Appeared to be in his early fifties, approximately anywhere from 6'2" to 6'6" in height and that is all we know right now."
The cause of the death will not be known until the autopsy is performed later this week. The victim's name will not be released until family is notified.
