According to the Department’s press release, a passerby was walking along the creek at the previously mentioned location when they spotted the body. The witnessed immediately notified the police. Responding officers located an adult male face down in the creek. A subsequent search of the creek bed and area did not reveal any signs of foul play or suspicious activity.
The body and scene were released to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
According to the department’s release, the incident is currently being treated as accidental, but they are requesting from the public any information that would assist the police. If anyone does have credible information, they are urged to contact the Anderson Police Department. Action News Now will continue to gather more information throughout the day.
UPDATE (10:02 a.m.): Action News Now has just confirmed with Lt. Rocky Harpham of the Anderson Police Department the body of a man found in an Anderson Creek this morning is still in the creek and should be pulled out within half an hour. Harpham confirmed the body was located just before 8:30 a.m. by a young man who was walking along the creek. Anderson Police are still gathering the proper resources to remove the body from the creek. Because the body is still in the creek, Harpham indicated they have not been able to confirm if the individual had any identification on him. Harpham was also unable to speculate on the man’s age or cause of death, but told Action News Now the body appeared to have been in the creek for at least a couple of days.

According to the Redding Record Searchlight, the body was discovered just before 8:30 a.m., by passerby’s who found the body face down in the creek. The Searchlight’s report also indicated Anderson Police speculate the body had been in the creek for at least a few days.
