Body Found In a Field near Ord Ferry Road.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body that was found in rural area Sunday morning.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a search party made up of family members of a missing Chico woman discovered the body and called the Glenn County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the body was buried in a field near the Sacramento river, they will not say how long the body has been there.

The identity or the gender of the body has not been released.

Angelica Weems, 23, was last been seen Saturday September 13, when she and her husband Zir Weems went for a walk in Willows. Zir returned from the walk, but Angelica did not.

On Sunday September 14, Willows Police found Zir Weems with self-inflicted stab wounds near Oak Street and Ventura Street in Willows.

Willows and Chico Police arrested Zir Weems in Chico Septmeber 25 on five counts of animal cruelty. Authorities say Weem's negligent treatment of a dog led to its death.

The sheriff's office has called in the Chico State forensic lab to help with the investigation.

Official are expected to be at the scene all night collecting evidence.
