PANGKALAN BUN, Indonesia (AP) - Searchers are combing the Java Sea to find and recover debris and bodies from the AirAsia jet that crashed Sunday morning with 162 people on board.

The plane was flying from Indonesia to Singapore when it encountered rough weather, and the pilot was waiting for permission to increase altitude when contact was lost.

At least six bodies pulled from the water have been taken to an Indonesian navy ship.
