The Shasta County Board of Supervisors is expected to formally approve a resolution proclaiming a local state of emergency Tuesday night.

Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko issued an initial emergency declaration Saturday after it was clear the Eiler Fire and Bald Fire were not going to be contained anytime soon. The Sheriff said the fire continues to pose a major threat to the town of Burney and its 2,800 residents.

At this time authorities are advising residents of Burney to be prepared for an evacuation order. Mayers Memorial Hospital moved their patients to Mercy Medical Center Sunday, fearing that the fire line would get closer to Burney.

At Tuesday night's meeting the Board of Supervisors will receive an update on the wildfires adopt a resolution which ratifies the proclamation of a local emergency.
