The Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad responded to a residence on 6th Street in Thermalito last night after a citizen advised the Butte County Sheriff’s Office they found what appeared to be copper blasting caps.
The citizen found the blasting caps just after 6 p.m. last night while the property was being cleared out at an estate at another residence. Responding Bomb Squad officers confirmed the items found were indeed blasting caps. The items were eventually placed in a containment trailer where they were taken to a safe location and detonated. No arrests were reported.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind if anyone encounters blasting caps or any other explosive materials to stay away from them and contact law enforcement immediately.
