The Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force released its annual report today. Honey oil labs are on the rise, and methamphetamine was the most common illegal drug possessed in Butte County.
In the last year the task force made 222 arrests for various drug and weapon charges, 68 percent of which were felonies. Methamphetamine was involved in 59 percent of cases and remains the most common illegal drug possessed in Butte County. Additionally, the task force seized 71 firearms and large amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, honey oil, and marijuana.
The report emphasizes the dramatic increase of Butane Honey Oil labs in the past few months. This year there have been 14 labs agents have responded to in Butte County.
The report also touches on the number of children affected by drug operations. The task force conducted 18 drug endangered children cases last year, involving 31 children.
