The Biggs High School softball team captured the school's first section title since 2003.
The top-seeded Wolverines (23-4) defeated No. 2 Redding Christian 3-0 behind a complete-game, nine strike-out performance from Ashley Perez to secure the Division VI crown Saturday in front of a big crowd at Biggs High School.
For some players, the thought of ending the season with a section title in tow is still settling in.
"We've never had this in our high school careers. As a senior to get this title is pretty amazing and it hasn't sunk in at all," said Ashley Perez.
"I'll be out walking around town and people will stop me and talk softball with me. They'll tell me how good the game was, how good the season has been, it's amazing," said Delanie Little.
"We've all worked so hard this whole season and this team is awesome together. We build each other up and don't put each other down and it's really great to have people on a team like that," said Courtney Roles.
