Big storms coming this weekend

More nice weather is on the way tomorrow... but BIG changes are coming. We're about to get a lot of rain in the North State!

A weak storm moved through today, but it only brought us a few scattered showers. Temperatures didn't cool down much, and we'll enjoy another warm, mostly sunny day tomorrow! Another weak storm will move through on Thursday, and this one will have a better chance at measurable rain... but it still won't be much. But it will finally break down high pressure over California, which has been acting like a brick wall to moist Pacific storms. The storm door will swing wide open!

The first series to barge through that door will arrive this weekend, with heavy rain and gusty south winds. Models are forecasting 1.5" to 3" of rain this weekend in the Valley, with 40 to 45 mph south wind gusts! Snow levels will start near 6000', but drop to near 4000' by Saturday night. There's also a chance of a Valley thunderstorm on Sunday.

We'll get a bit of a break Monday and Tuesday, but models are forecasting another series of big storms Wednesday and Thursday. These look to have similar amounts of rain with them. It's not quite a March Miracle, but PLENTY of rain is coming our way in the next 10 days! If you have preparations that need to be done in advance of heavy rain, now is the time. If you're thinking of going to Lake Tahoe this weekend... be prepared for a VERY messy commute! This will help recharge the Sierra snowpack quite a bit, and we'll keep our fingers crossed for more later this month.
