A big rig carrying more than 30 tons of grain caused Chico traffic to be temporarily delayed on East Avenue towards Nord Avenue near Highway 32 earlier this afternoon.
The driver of the big rig did not notice the train track signal was red and was forced to slam on his brakes.
The truck driver managed to stop the truck just before the railroad tracks and avoid a collision with the train, but a significant amount of the grain spilled onto the road.
Traffic in the area was disrupted for approximately half an hour.
