A tractor-trailer hauling apples crashed and overturned early Wednesday, forcing a partial closure of Interstate 5 near Castella.

It happened in the southbound lanes around 5:30 a.m., roughly 50 miles north of Redding and 5 miles south of Dunsmuir.

According to the California Department of Transportation, one southbound lane is blocked, and officials expect a partial closure to remain in place until about 3 or 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Caltrans officials say that at some point during the day both southbound lanes will be closed while crews work to upright the big rig.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.
