Big Rig driver suspected of DUI in wrong way crash

A big rig driver hauling potatoes through Redding has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a guard rail on Interstate 5 near Cypress Avenue.

The driver was reportedly traveling the wrong direction on Highway 44, before he crashed on I-5, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver, 58-year-old Randall Scott Megazzi, of Yuba City was arrested on scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Nobody was injured in the crash, no other vehicles were involved and traffic was not disrupted.
