Traffic is backed up on Interstate 5 southbound near Lakehead after a big rig crashed into the center divider Monday morning.
California Highway Patrol officials say the big rig was travelling southbound at an unsafe speed when the driver lost control and crashed into the center divider near the Dog Creek offramp.
The truck was carrying nearly 100 gallons of diesel, 50-60 gallons of which spilled onto the highway.
Both southbound lanes are closed, but traffic is moving through on the shoulder. One northbound lane is closed as well. Cal Trans officials say the cleanup process will last at least until noon.
