If you have ever thought about volunteering in Chico's beautiful Bidwell park, then now is the perfect time to get involved.
Park officials will present information about the Parks Division and Volunteer program on Thursday, March 31st, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, at the Chico City Council Building at 421 Main Street.

There are plenty of opportunities. If you walk, bike, relax or ride a horse in the park 4 hours a month, you have met the
hours requirement for the Park Watch program. Now all you need is a little training .
As ambassadors of the park, Park Watch volunteers provide visitors with information and inform park staff of damage, hazards, vandalism and other observations. The
program's mission is to provide a highly visible volunteer presence in the park that fosters a safe environment.

There is also a need for help when it comes to Park Restoration. Volunteer Crew Leaders will be trained in how to lead groups of volunteers from the community in
maintaining and restoring the beauty and ecology of the park as well as city greenways. Work involves removing invasive plants, painting, providing education
to the public, collecting native seeds, removing trash, planting native plant species and
much more. Tools are even provided to help you start helping to make a difference.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal background check.

You are asked to pre-register by visiting You can also contact the Park Division at 896-7800 or by email: To obtain a volunteer application.
