The operators of the Bidwell Park Golf Course in Chico hope to install 312 panels in an empty field near the course's second hole. Officials hoped to present their solar plans at a city council meeting, but instead had the Chico Finance Committee discuss the issue this morning. There is yet to be an outcome however, and the discussion of the proposal will be continued at the next meeting on July 22.
The installation of the panels will cost $400,000 but over a 25 year time span, the course will save 1.3 million dollars. The golf course's general manager, Courtney Foster, is hopeful that the city will give the plans the go-ahead.
