A 63-year-old bicyclist struck by a car in downtown Redding Wednesday morning has died from his injuries, police said.

The collision happened at 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of Continental and Butte Streets.

Investigators say 38-year-old Redding woman was driving a black Dodge Charger south on Continental Street as the cyclist was riding north. Police say the Charger failed to yield as it approached the intersection and struck the man as she made a left turn onto Butte Street.

The bicyclist was taken to Mercy Medical Center with major head trauma, and was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending notification of kin.
