Britany Bowers is still listed in critical condition today after being struck by vehicle around dusk last night near Garden Avenue and Arboga Road in the Yuba-Sutter area. According to the California Highway Patrol Collision Report, the 21-year-old was on her bicycle riding south on Garden Avenue approaching Arboga Road. While waiting for her sister and a friend, Bowers continued to complete 360's in the roadway with her bicycle. Adam Anderson, the 20-year-old driver of the vehicle, was traveling in his Ford F-150 on Garden Avenue towards the victim. .
Bowers, who was not wearing a helmet and had earphones in both ears, failed to hear her sister yelling at her that the vehicle was approaching. Anderson initially observed Bowers on her bicycle, but as he approached she turned directly into the path of the vehicle. Bowers was struck by the front of the vehicle and was thrown from her bicycle.
Bowers was transported by Bi-County Ambulance to Rideout emergency room, where she is currently being treated for a broken leg, lacerated liver and other internal injuries. She remains in critical condition as of 12 p.m. this afternoon. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the collision, and Anderson was not arrested.
