New York Times Best Selling Author Vanessa Diffenbaugh, Author of "The Language of Flowers", will speak at a Luncheon to benefit the Jesus Center in Chico on Saturday, May 14th.

Diffenbaugh is a Chico Native. Jesus Center Director of Development, Amber Abney-Bass, says the book is a good fit with the mission of the Jesus Center and its programs. The main character in the book ages out of foster care and finds herself homeless, but is helped by a businesswoman willing to invest in her and her gift for flowers ... providing the opportunity to change her life and make a difference in the lives of others.

Ladies from the Jesus Center's "Bloomin' Hope" flower cart, a vocational program for women, will be selling flowers at the Luncheon based on the "emotion" they represent.

The event will be catered by Italian Guy Catering. It takes place at Lakeside Pavilion at California Park, 2565 California Park Drive. Doors open at 10:30 and the program begins at 11 a.m.

Books will be available for sale and signing at the Luncheon.

No tickets will be sold at the door. They cost $45 per person and are available through the Jesus Center at (530) 345-2640 or www.jesuscenter.org.
