The 6th Street Center for Homeless Youth in Downtown Chico is gearing up for “Art Under the Awning” … a fundraiser to help the non-profit provide services.
It takes place Wednesday, May 28th from 5 – 9 p.m. under the awning in the parking lot of Jacks Family Restaurant, which is right next door to the center, at Sixth and Main Streets.
The event will feature dinner by Steelhead BBQ Co., Music by Dylan’s Dharma, and an Art Auction. The cost is $20, and only $15 if you bring a bag of donations.
Items needed for donation include: socks, sunblock, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, feminine hygiene, first aid supplies, backpacks, canned food, pasta, pasta sauce, non-perishable food items.
Proceeds will benefit the center and fund a new awning, as well as new benches, tables and chairs.
The 6th street center provides day time services for homeless and runaway youth … ages 14 to 24. It provides showers and laundry, computer access, case management, counseling, family reunification and employment assistance. Right now an average of 90 youth per month use its services.
