Beale Airman Convicted of Sexual Assault

An airman at Beale Air Force Base was convicted today of sexual assault. Staff Sgt. Jeffary Cartwright, stationed at Beale Air Force Base, outside of Marysville, was found guilty in a General Court Martial today, for engaging in a sex act with two minors, communicating indecent language and conduct to the minors and assault of a minor.

Col. Douglas J. Lee, 9th Reconnaissance Wing commander says, "Sexual Assault cases are taken extremely seriously and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. This court martial sent a strong message to the base and local community that
crimes of this nature will not be tolerated in the Air Force."

Cartwright was sentenced to a Bad Conduct Discharge, confinement for 2 years, total forfeitures of pay and allowances, and reduction to E-1.
