Search and Rescue efforts are ongoing after an Alameda County man and his two young children never returned from a camping trip to the Sierra Nevadas.

According to the Sierra County Sheriff's Office, the 41-year-old man, along with his 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter were expected to return home earlier this week. A missing persons report was filed with the sheriff's office Tuesday night.

The family was last seen in western Sierra County, traveling in their 2015 black Toyota Tundra.

Family members told the sheriff's office the family planned to drive through a remote part of Sierra and Plumas Counties on their trip home. The sheriff's department said the family was reported to have ample food and water supplies.

Search and Rescue teams, along with California Highway Patrol helicopter were unable to find the family Wednesday. Search efforts are expected to resume Thursday.
