Recology Yuba-Sutter and Sutter and Yuba City’s high school baseball teams will team up with the parks department to freshen up nine parks throughout the city over the next couple weeks.

Ten employees from Recology along with 15 Yuba City and 15 Sutter baseball players will spend Saturday afternoon planting shrubs, trees and flowers, and installing mulch to retain moisture.

The players, Recology employees and City staffers will divide into three teams and spread among the neighborhoods for the volunteer project from 8 a.m. to noon.

“Our players are eager for an opportunity to give back to a community that provides so much support,” said Honkers varsity coach Dave Rodriguez. “They also think this is a welcome chance to be good role models on and off the field.”

The targeted parks will include Bogue Park, Gauche Aquatic Park, Greenwood Park, Happy Park, Hillcrest Park, Maple Park, Regency Park, Sam Brannan Park and Shanghai Park.

“Recology Yuba-Sutter is proud partner in this project to spruce up our neighborhood parks by adding more greenery. We always champion any effort that celebrates and cares for our local resources,” said Jackie Sillman, public relations coordinator with Recology Yuba-Sutter.
