Barker twirls gem, leads Cats past Toros

Behind a brilliant start from Luke Barker, the Chico State baseball team defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday at Nettleton Stadium.

Barker tossed eight scoreless innings, giving up only 4 hits while never allowing a runner to reach second base. Barker improved to 4-1 and lowered his season ERA to 1.43.

Connor Huesers and Cody Slader finished with two hits apiece and Andrew Carrillo drove in a pair of runs to lead the offense.

Chico State improved to 14-17 overall and 13-15 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The series continues with a doubleheader Saturday at noon and concludes with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m.
