LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a former Los Angeles police officer charged with killing a man while off-duty is being transported back to Southern California from Texas.

Pomona police Lt. Hector Rodriguez says Henry Solis is being escorted by detectives and is expected to be booked into Pomona's jail Thursday afternoon.

Rodriguez says the 27-year-old will be arraigned Friday. After that he'll be transported to a Los Angeles County jail, where he'll await a preliminary hearing.

Solis was arrested last week in Mexico after evading authorities for more than two months.

He was sought in the shooting death of 23-year-old Salome Rodriguez following a dispute outside a nightclub in Pomona on March 13.

It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
