Two Paradise residents are behind bars this morning after allegedly stepping into a bike-theft trap set by the Chico Police Department's target team.

Ronald Tanner, 38, and Emily Hammond, 21, were arrested after police say they stole a so-called bait bicycle left by target officers.

The bait bike had been locked up outside a business on Nord Avenue. A GPS devise was triggered when the bike was taken, alerting officers.

It was traced to the back of a pickup truck parked near the Chico Cemetery.

Tanner reportedly ran from the truck but was found hiding in the cemetery.

Hammond was arrested as she stood near the pickup truck, accused of providing false information and violating probation.

Officers say tanner was in possession of burglary tools and arrested.
