Redding police say an infant was hospitalized Sunday after the child's mother fell asleep in a parked car for nearly 45 minutes.

Police were called to the Tower Market on Hartnell Avenue a little at 11:09 a.m. Officers say a woman was asleep in her car with an infant inside. The AC was running, but one of the doors was open.

The baby was rushed to Mercy Medical Center with a temperature of 104.

Police say the infant's mother was suffering from extreme exhaustion and no criminal charges will be filed.
