Investigators have a new lead in the Neal King case.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office said they received an anonymous tip last week with information on the location of King's body. Action News Now also received an anonymous tip today detailing today's search
Butte, Placer, and Yuba County Sheriff's Offices searched the area of Lake Oroville under the suspension bridge, otherwise known as the Bidwell Bar Bridge.
The Butte County Sheriff's office said Placer has a remote operated vehicle with a camera.
Yuba has side-scanning sonar on their boat.
Neal King, a Texas native and Chico resident, went missing in late March and was last seen in Berry Creek.
Investigators said Neal King may have been involved in a marijuana transaction when he disappeared.
They said they’ve followed many leads in Butte County, and were planning on searching this area of Lake Oroville soon.
“We needed to wait long enough for the water level to drop,” Butte County Undersheriff Kory Honea said. “About a week ago we received an anonymous tip indicating that Neal King’s body had been dumped from the bridge into the river below.”
As for 4:45pm Wednesday, Honea said the operation was suspended. He said they'll need some equipment that goes deeper in the water.
