Law Enforcement officials are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide at an Orland residence at the corner of Chapman Street and Railroad Avenue.

Orland Police Chief J.C. Tolle said his department responded to the scene just before 1:00 p.m. and found a 31 year old man and a 24 year old woman dead inside the home. Police haven't released the names as they are still notifying next of kin. Tolle tells us that the people found inside the home were married with two children. The children were staying with a relative. The man appeared to have died by hanging and the woman's cause of death remains under investigation.

A neighbor tells us that the couple was very private and kept to themselves. The Orland Police Department, the Glenn County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Justice are investigating. They are interviewing family members to try to get a better idea of what happened. Orland Police will treat this as a double homicide until proven otherwise.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
