An early morning attic fire in Oroville leaves three people displaced from their home. The residents of the home have their dog to thank for alerting them to the fire. The people inside reportedly heard barking, and that's when they saw the smoke just in time to get out. Butte County Cal Fire was called out just before 12:30 a.m. this morning to a home on Cox lane just off Highway 70 near Palermo. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames coming from the attic. It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the fire. The cause is under investigation. Fire officials are looking into whether the smoke detectors in the home were working. The estimated damage to the home is about $40,000.
