Red Bluff Police responded to a residence on Oak Street in Red Bluff at approximately 1:43 a.m. this morning. There they made contact with a 28-year-old female who told officers a male casual acquaintance had broken into her home, disrobed her, and then attempted to rape her. The woman was able to fend off the suspect and he fled the residence after she stated her intentions to call the police. According to the Red Bluff Police press release, responding officers observed physical evidence of the break in. With help from the woman, officers were able to locate the male suspect outside a residence a few blocks away.
Officers identified the suspect at 27-year-old Mario Garcia of Corning. Garcia was found intoxicated and passed out in an arm chair on the porch of his brother’s residence. Officers observed injuries on Garcia which corroborated with the woman’s statement about her efforts to fend him off. Garcia was arrested without incident and booked into Tehama County Jail on attempted rape, burglary, and multiple prior outstanding warrants. He is being held on a $158,000 bail.
