Athos: Community support has been "completely mind-blowing"

We’ve received an update from Rachel Athos, the Chico State student whose life was saved because of the sacrifice her dog Lexi made to defend Athos from a mountain lion on the Yahi trail January 4. Athos told Action News Now the outpouring of support and condolences from locals has been incredible. She’s had three dog offers and heard about one person who donated to the Haven Human Shelter, the same shelter Athos adopted Lexi from. One woman drew Athos this sketch of Lexi for her. She said the idea of locals coming together to put a memorial plaque for Lexi at the beginning of the Yahi trail is still “up in the air.” Athos finished with these sentiments:

“Though the only thing I wish is to change the past, it has been completely mind blowing knowing random strangers want to do their best to give a helping hand.”
