TIANJIN, China (AP) - China's official Xinhua (shihn-wah) News agency says 12 firefighters are among the 44 people killed in massive explosions at a warehouse in the port city of Tianjin (tyan-jihn).

The blasts rocked the city late Wednesday, blowing out the windows of high rise apartments and destroying office buildings.

A fireball appears to have swept through a parking lot of new vehicles. Government officials and state media say the warehouse stored dangerous materials.
