As Rain Falls, Auto Accidents Increase

It’s the start of rain season here in the North State and that means, well, lots of rain.

The first rain of the season can cause many automobile accidents and Chico Police say they have the statistics to support it.

Last Tuesday, when it was sunny, CPD responded to four accidents. This Tuesday, when it was raining, they responded to 14.

To help improve road safety, Action News Now spoke with local mechanic Dan Galloway of A&T Auto Care for some pointers.

“The right tire pressure is important because if it's too low you're going to have premature wear; if it's too high you can spin out,” he said.

Galloway added checking windshield wipers for torn edges, having brakes tested and keeping up with light maintenance.
