Arrest Made in Magalia Triple Homicide

The Butte County Sheriff’s Department, in tandem with The Chico Police SWAT, The Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF) and the District Attorney’s Office have arrested 72-year-old Donald Clark of Centerville at approximately 5 a.m. yesterday morning. The arrest was made at the 1400 block of Centerville Road. Search warrants were served with the assistance of the Butte County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Unit, Chico PD SWAT, and the BINTF. Clark was arrested for arson and three counts of murder. He was booked into the Butte County Jail with a bail of $3,050,000.

Autopsies were conducted on all three victims on June 18, and gunshot wounds were found in all three victims which were located in a burning vehicle last Thursday morning near Magalia. Although the victims have been “tentatively identified” as residents from the Sacramento area, their names have not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin. No further arrests are anticipated at this time, but the investigation is ongoing. We will continue to bring you the latest as it comes in.

Last Thursday Butte COunty Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in Magalia at approximately 12:15 a.m. on the Skyway near Hupp-Coutelenc Road. After Cal-Fire units extinguished the flames, human remains were discovered inside. It was determined the vehicle, a green 2000 Acura TL, was recently stolen to the Sacramento Police Department. Three bodies were found inside the vehicle.
