LOS ANGELES (AP) - Officials say a 21-year-old Army veteran was fatally shot after a dispute at a party to celebrate his return from Afghanistan.
Los Angeles police Lt. Paul Vernon told City News Service that Francisco Garcia had left his party and was on a sidewalk in the San Fernando Valley when a man pulled up and yelled at him before shooting him in the early morning hours Sunday.
Authorities say Garcia died at the scene.
Vernon says police believe Garcia was targeted by the suspect following a dispute Saturday.
No arrests have been made.
Detectives told the news service they do not believe those involved had been at the party.
