Two Chico men were arrested at a downtown pizza restaurant early Friday morning, just minutes after they robbed two men at knife point.

Joshua Mercer, 20, and Andru Fredson, 19, were arrested at Main Street Pizza after a bartender told police two robbery suspects were inside the restaurant.

Chico police responded to a robbery in the area of East 4th Street and Wall Street around 1:30 a.m. Two men told officers they were walking to their car after leaving a local bar when they were robbed at knife point.

After stealing money from the victims, the two suspects ran off through the city parking lot.

The two victims were able to give police a description of the suspect, and officers began patrolling downtown asking citizens to keep an eye out for the suspects.

A few minutes later a local bartender told police two men matching the suspects' description were at Main Street Pizza downtown.

Officers contacted and detained Mercer and Fredson. Both men were carrying a knife and were in possession of the stolen money. Additionally, the two victims were able to positively identify the men as the robbers.
