Authorities in Sutter County say an armed man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Sutter County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of an assault or suicide attempt in the 4700 block of Broadway in Live Oak just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
When deputies arrived they could see a man and woman inside the home, the man, later identifed as 54-year-old Mark Sharpe, was reportedly armed with a pistol. Deputies ordered Sharpe to drop the weapon and fired a stun gun at him when he did not comply. The stun gun did not subdue Sharpe, and he began charging at deputies who then fired shots at him.
Sharpe was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody with the sheriff's office was injured in the incident.
